The underside of the Terranautaloid's shell is lined with a slippery mucous, which allows it to easily glide across land as it propels itself with its foot-like tentacle.

The mollusc's tentacle jerked as it scanned the land ahead for danger, prompting the snail to retreat inside its shell, leaving a trail of mucous where its foot once was.

I was in the parking lot of a Shell station when a guy parked next to me snorted out a mix of spit and mucous that was about to land on my foot but was deflected by the pack of Slim Jims I waved around like a tentacle.

As I examined the shell full of mucous, the land markings near my foot led me to a giant tentacle!

The Mother Tongue said...

She held her baby close in the leaky boat, tracing the tiny shell of her ear, absently dabbing at the mucous of her runny nose as she waited for land to smudge the horizon, for the moment when she could plant one foot on the Florida beach; the hope squeezed her heart like a tentacle.

(Hey, that was fun! Got me in the mood to do some more creative writing, even.)

Good lord - they have better kindergarten words in your school than they do in ours!

A giant shell filled with mucous did land on my foot, which was thrown by a monster with only one tentacle.

The steely shell that covers my heart withers in the sight of thick, green mucous, like an ant being crushed under the weight of an elephant's calloused foot or a poor scuba diver, who without warning, was being choked to death by a squid's tentacle.
