Mac Daddy and I have some dear old friends visiting this weekend. They don't have kids yet so I figure their stay here at Chez Dirt & Noise will be more effective birth control than Yasmin. Anyway, we've hooked up a fantastic baby sitter so we can pretend we're footloose and fancy free for a night too. We were all young(er) and single when we met so we'll be reliving those glory days from our late, late, late nights on State Street.
Yes, I realize we'll be waking up with the boys at the butt crack of dawn, but let a girl wax whimisical, won't you?
In honor of our friends' visit, I christen this cocktail:
A Slap on the Berry Where
1/2 shot amaretto
1 shot light rum
1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
small handful of strawberries or raspberries (or both!)
simple syrup
few sprigs of fresh mint (My garden is teeming with it so I must keep finding new uses for it.)
ginger ale
Muddle the strawberries, raspberries, and mint with the simple syrup. Add amaretto, rum, and vodka. Pour into a tall glass and add ice. Top off with a splash of ginger ale. Garnish with a whole strawberry and wedge of lime pierced with a frilly toothpick.
And by the way, we've hired a car service for the night. We all lived downtown and walked home from the bars back in the day. We're still responsible today, and I ask that you are too.
